Solid training, good value

My experience with The UAV Academy's online drone theory training was mostly positive. The content was comprehensive, covering everything needed for the A2 CofC, and I felt well-prepared for the exam. I also appreciate that they offer an operations manual review, which is super helpful for getting everything squared away. My only minor gripe is that finding information on how to book the flight assessment isn't as straightforward as it could be on their site; a dedicated FAQ or booking link would really streamline things. Overall though, it's a solid alternative to some of the pricier options like Coptrz or Heliguy, offering good value for money.

Fantastic Experience!

I was just there last week for a flight assessment and it was brilliant! The instructors were so knowledgeable and made everything super clear. I'm definitely going back for their thermal imaging drone course. My only tiny quibble was the coffee machine was out of order, but honestly, it was a minor thing. Definitely recommend The UAV Academy to all my friends!

Consistent, helpful training

This was my third time using The UAV Academy, this time for the GVC and A2 CofC bundle. I first took their aerial photography course a couple of years ago, and then renewed my CAA drone license with them last year. Each experience has been consistently good. The course content is always current and the online platform reliable. I really appreciate how the instructors break down complex topics; it makes a big difference. They even helped me navigate a small issue I had with booking the flight assessment, which was resolved quickly. This consistency is why I keep coming back.

A2 CofC was excellent

I just finished the A2 CofC course and it was super informative! The online drone theory training was engaging, and I felt really prepared for the exam. Passed it on my first try! I'm already looking at their GVC course options. Definitely coming back for more training and recommending them to my friends who are getting into drones. What a great experience!

Got my cert, no fuss

Needed my A2 CofC for a new job, so I signed up for the online course. It was pretty straightforward, got through the modules without too much trouble. The practice tests helped a lot. Took about a week to actually get my certificate after passing, but that's probably normal. Overall, it was a smooth process and I got what I needed.

Any experience with the operations manual review service?

P PaperworkPaul 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Used them for mine. Saved me so much headache with the CAA. Worth every penny.

R RegsRUs 1 month ago
Yeah, it's a minefield if you try to do it yourself. They know exactly what the CAA wants.

It's good if you hate writing. I just copied a template online and adapted it.

Risky, though. If it's not perfect, CAA sends it back.

Thinking of getting into drones. A2 CofC or GVC first?

F FlyGuyPete 2 months ago ✓ Best Answer
A2 CofC for sure. Cheaper, quicker, gets you flying legally for most things people want to do as a hobbyist.

R RotorheadRick 2 months ago
Yeah, A2 is the entry point. GVC is if you're serious about commercial work.

I got the A2 CofC course discount, made it a no-brainer.

Depends what you wanna do. If you plan on making money with it, just go GVC. Save time later.

But GVC takes longer, right? How long does it take to complete the GVC course online?

Which training for industrial use - fixed wing or multirotor?

W WorkDroneWes 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Multirotor drone training is more versatile for most industrial stuff, like inspections and smaller areas. Fixed wing is for large area mapping.
8
P PrecisionPete 1 month ago
Yeah, multirotors are easier to handle for precision tasks.

E EnduranceEddie 1 month ago
Fixed wing is good for long endurance and covering ground quickly, but not as agile.

B BigSiteBill 1 month ago
Depends on the scale of your industrial projects. Fixed wing for huge sites, multirotor for smaller, more detailed work.

Best advanced course after GVC? Aerial photography or survey training?

S ShutterbugSam 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
If you're into visuals, aerial photography course is a no-brainer. Really ups your game.

Survey training if you want to do actual mapping and measurements. Totally different skill set.
